Liebster Awards! So exciting!

Today I was nominated for the Liebster Award by my fellow blogger William from Two Weeks from Everywhere. I’m a little shocked but honoured to be nominated! So, here we go with the responses to the questions asked!

As I read Two Weeks from Everywhere’s submission for his nomination I learned a bit about what the Liebster Award is all about!

It is:

The Liebster Blog Award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers …  and is a sneaky way to get to know the person behind the blog.

How did I get nominated??

Well, here are the rules for the award:

  1. Each person must post 11 facts about themselves.
  2. Answer 11 questions the tagger has given you and give 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged.
  3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post. Tell them you’ve tagged them.
  4. Remember, no tag backs.

S0,  here’s my response to 11 facts about myself

  1. I live in Ontario, Canada with my mom
  2. My birthday is September 27 and I usually spend the entire Summer prior to it planning something extravagant
  3. I graduated from Humber College in 2010 and currently attend York University
  4. I’m absolutely terrified of raccoons! I scream like a little girl when I see them
  5. My dream profession is becoming a teacher but due to the over-saturation of the field I was forced to take a different career path
  6. I have 3 cats
  7. I work at Chapters Indigo and I can literally say it feeds into my reading addiction
  8. I prefer overcast days to sunny days
  9. I have an obsession with painting my nails, I absolutely love nail art!
  10. I’m an awesome baker, I bake all kinds of cupcakes and other sweet treats
  11. My favourite colour is green!

Anddd, my answers to Two Weeks from Everywhere questions!

Here are the eleven questions I would like you to answer:

  1. What is your favourite book of all time? This is totally the hardest question ever to answer! So, top 3! The Time Traveler’s Wife, Atonement and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
  2. Can you read with noise going on or must you have complete silence? I used to be picky and had to read in silence, I almost always read in my bedroom. I take public transit and now I read while I wait for the bus.
  3. Do you have a problem letting go of a book, even if it was one you didn’t particularly like? I had big issues after I read the Hunger Games trilogy. I didn’t like the ending to Mockingjay but I’m sure I’m not the only one. Also, for YA Book Club we read The Eleventh Plague and that book did not sit well with me! Ugh..
  4. What are your main interests outside of reading? I love baking, blogging, knitting and doing genealogy research
  5. Star Wars or Star Trek? Definitely Star Wars!!
  6. Who is your favourite author? James Dashner! He writes the Maze Runner trilogy. Can’t wait for The Kill Order, out in August!
  7. Coffee or tea? I’m definitely a tea lover!
  8. Do you ever listen to audio books? If not, why not? I haven’t listened to audio books before. I find I’m the type of learner that needs to read it myself rather than listen.
  9. Where is your favourite place to read? This is probably weird, but I love to read on the bus.
  10. Do you own an e-reader? If not, why not? I own a Kobo and a Playbook w/ a Kobo app on it. I still read LOTS of books and occasionally read off the Kobo.
  11. Do you always finish a book, regardless of whether you like it or not? I’ll put the book down and go back to it eventually. I usually do finish it, regardless how hard it is.

Wanton Creation

A month ago, I wrote a blog about the first book in The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Now, at long last, I have finished the second and third books in that series, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, and have decided to blog about them simultaneously.

I did enjoy the first book, but found the plot almost relentless, with everything happening so fast that as a reader you barely had time to digest what had happened before something else would occur. But that novel did a good job of setting the scene and atmosphere for the next two books, and possibly made it easier to confront the horrors that await the characters in these later parts of the trilogy.

The simple truth is, both CF (Catching Fire) and MJ (Mockingjay) are, in my opinion, considerably better than HG (The Hunger Games…I probably don’t need to be explaining these abbreviations…

My top 5 pages I visit often!

I’ve had some people ask me why I don’t dedicate a section of my blog to my frequently visited blogs/vlogs. I really don’t know why I haven’t got one but I think it’s because I wanted to have my goodreads account attached, my recent posts and categories I write about on there. Instead of having a permanent section I thought I would include an awesome blog entry on it. Good enough?! I hope so, so here we go!

1. Wake Up Fast’s YouTube Channel

Dain has dedicated his life to making short videos on YouTube. He started out with his Wake Up Calls feature that he would update weekly. Within the last year he’s been creating and going beyond the standard Wake Up Calls to provide the internet with amusing, satirical skits. Check it out! I’ve provided the link above and I definitely recommend you check it out.

2. Andrew Hunt’s YouTube Channel

I came across this YouTube channel by accident really. I noticed a lot of people I follow on YouTube are big fans of him. I also fell in love with him once I found out he was Canadian. I like to support my locals whenever I get a chance to. In his videos, he usually likes to rant about random topics that come ot his mind. Sometimes he throws in a song or a ms paint skit but I always thoroughly enjoy his work. He was featured on the Comedy Network’s website as a Canadian Comedian to watch out for. I might as well do my part and promote him the best I can.

4. Camille’s Blog

A friend of mine who has a love for all things fashion, photography and beauty hosts her own blog on Blogspot. She does reviews on hip fashion and beauty products. If one or more of these topics interests you, why not take a stroll over to her blog??

You can follow her on Twitter: @camillechurkoo

5. Ayesha’s Nail Art

Ayesha loves nail art, tattoo’s and drawing! All things art related. Her website displays all these things that she has done in the past. You can check out her photographic blog at the link provided above.

Finalizing the countdown for 1000 Awesome things!

1000 Awesome Things

It’s where the wild things are.

See, we’ll never really know how far the universe flies but maybe we should be wondering how far our minds go inside.

Because when you let your thoughts run free … they bounce all over the place. When your brain slips into the basement … it zooms to outer space. And when we see you thinking deeply … we see love all over your face.

What’s in the far corners of your mind?

Is it a wild idea you’ve been itching to try? Is it time you finally asked out that guy? Is it a business you know you should have started last year? A scary thought about switching careers? Or a dull ache and pain that won’t heal till you see her?

Let the far corners of your mind to take you closer, take you farther, and take you away.

Yes, let the…

Sort of something to look forward to?

I’m writing this post just to basically remind myself and you lovely followers that I will be writing a few epic posts this week to celebrate being free for a few months from university. I really couldn’t contain myself anymore and had to write this now. This time tomorrow I’ll be a free woman! Thank goodness. Anyways, I’ll be writing a few of the following:

* My favourite blogs/vlogs ( top 5 w/ descriptions)
* Top 5 albums (a IMO really)
* A book review or two? (Catching Fire, Mockingjay maybe?)

Anyways, happy studying to those who still have to and to those who do not, I am totally jealous right now.
